UNDERDROWN
A Virtual Stage Reading
We have partnered with Prop Thtr to co-produce a virtual reading of Underdrown by Derek McPhatter and directed by Mikael Burke.
Underdrown follows Dr Ezekiel Haight, 'Zeke', a queer black intellectual who lives on the South Side of Chicago, as he searches for a platform to tell his truth, even as environmental catastrophe transforms Chicago and the line between real life and the virtual world blurs into the surreal. During a time of coinciding crises: social unrest at failed racial /class reforms + widening panic at surging water levels taking over the South Side due to climate change will his search prevail?
Featuring: Shariba Rivers, Johnard Washington, Harmony Zhang and Collin Quinn Rice
