About the Event
Perceptions Theatre’s BIPOC Play Festival was created in 2021 to offer local playwrights of color a platform to share their stories. Last year we were able to showcase five playwrights of color and their work virtually. Now, our July 2025 festival will be in person then streamed virtually and offers diverse, intriguing tales that we can't wait to share with you all!
Featuring Plays:
Kicked to the Curb
By Samantha Magaña Plascencia
Directed by Amy Gerwert Valdez
Not even a night of community, alcohol, and karaoke proves able to distract Oliver and Maya from the sorrow of a friend's passing. Instead, the inebriated duo mourn on an empty street, reminiscing about their friend group's past, contemplating the present, and grieving the futures of peers whose lives were cut short.
